Political: Conservatives can't catch a break!
Just when they thought they could blame Medicare (and SS) for all the ails us along comes this inconvenient tid bit of news.
"The chart is taken from S&P's twice-per-year deep dive into healthcare inflation, and it shows that contrary to expectations, Medicare inflation (the annual year over year growth in the cost of a delivering a unit of care) is slowing dramatically, and is well below almost every other category of healthcare spending (which are also dropping).

CBO Director Doug Elmendorf said at a press conference that the slower growth in Medicare is consistent with slower health care cost growth throughout the economy, which many analysts have observed.
------->But he said itís still unclear why the slowdown is happening.
For 60 years (!) the pattern has held. When unemployment drops, the deficit as a percentage of GDP drops. When unemployment rises, the deficit rises. So now let's break this down further, to address the idea that we need to increase revenue as a percent of GDP, which is undeniably true if we want to prevent the national debt from growing. The answer there is, once again, improve the employment picture (i.e., increase growth).

Very good grasshopper! You seem to be absorbing my lessons well! Gold star for you!
"A reasonable person cannot look at that chart and conclude that the problem is just spending. The problem is both spending and low taxes. So saying the problem is "just spending" is putting ideology ahead of reality--at the country's expense."
So in lieu of immediate full unemployment, where does the revenue come from?
(Oh, I need to qualify. The quote above refers to a "reasonable" person. Not someone infused with tea baggery. Let the guns blaze and the arrows fly!))

"A reasonable person cannot look at that chart and conclude that the problem is just revenue
"A reasonable person cannot look at that chart and conclude that the problem is just growth
99% of the polling will tell you different!
